About
I have always had ideas before I had any way to make them. At fifteen I found out I could draw them, and that settled most of it. These days they are mostly rectangles, and when the rectangles are not enough I build the thing myself, so it comes out the way I envisioned it.
I started in 2015 drawing banners for influencers, and spent the years after that working out what I actually wanted to build. It turned into leading design for startups, then products with brands, and eventually two studios of my own: Studio Sphere for design, and
Boardly, the development side. I started both with close friends, a different one for each.
Most weeks I am somewhere between a Figma file and a merge conflict. I draw the thing, build enough of it to find out the drawing was wrong, and fix the drawing. A small piece someone is using beats a large one in a presentation, every time.
I am a perfectionist about this, and most of what that means in practice is structure and consistency, which is also most of what makes an interface unremarkable in use. It behaves the way people already expect, its hit areas are where fingers go, its errors appear where the eye already is, and the same thing looks the same everywhere.
Generic is the other failure, and it is the one that comes from nothing being decided.
